Borrowing Circulating Equipment from the Media CenterThis agreement extends limited rights of use of circulating equipment, belonging to the Trible Library Media Center to the CNU Community. This agreement outlines a privilege extended to a patron by Trible Library Media Center. A list of our circulating equipment is available at: http://library.cnu.edu/media/equipment.htm
Patron Eligibility
• Patron must be a member of the CNU Community with a valid CNU ID. • Patron must owe less than $5 dollars in library fines. • "Not Eligible for Borrowing Media Equipment" is not indicated in patron's record. • Demonstrates operational knowledge. Borrowing Procedure • Patrons come to the Trible Library Media Center Service Desk with their CNU student ID card • If a patron is borrowing a laptop, camera, Marantz Steady State Recorder and/or camcorder, the patron must complete the online Equipment Loan Waiver located at http://library.cnu.edu/media/equipmentloanwaiver_distributed.pdf The Adobe Acrobat form must then be emailed to mediacenter@cnu.edu with the subject ELW.
• Media Center Service Desk staff will then check out the requested equipment and issue the due date to the patron. • Non-compliance is considered a breach of contract and may result in penalties.

Patron Responsibilities • Patron is required to return all Media Equipment to the Media Center Service Desk. Failure to do so will result in a warning or revocation of borrowing privileges. Laptops may not leave the library; therefore, laptops may not be taken into Einsteins or the 24/7 room. • Equipment is provided to patron "as is". It is the responsibility of patron to check the functionality of the equipment. Patron shall notify the Trible Library Media Center within 15 minutes of borrowing time if defects are noted. All such notifications are to be by electronic mail to mediacenter@cnu.edu. • Any data stored on equipment may be deleted upon return without notification. • Patron is assumed to possess the knowledge required for safe and correct operation of the equipment and of any supplied accessories that patron uses in conjunction with the borrowed equipment. User manuals for the equipment are available and can be requested from the Trible Library Media center. • Patron shall use prudent judgment to protect the equipment from damage, vandalism, and theft. • Patron shall be held liable for all damage resulting from uses not outlined in this agreement, not specified in the initial statement of purpose, or not designated in the operating manual, even if damage is unintentional or if use would otherwise be deemed appropriate.
Loss/Damage • The Patron shall assume full responsibility for the replacement of the equipment should it be lost, stolen, or rendered unusable. • The Multimedia Librarian shall deem the extent of the liability of the patron for lost or stolen equipment at its sole discretion. • In the case of theft, patron shall perform the following within 48 hours of the theft: (1) file a report with the Christopher Newport University police if the theft occurred on campus, or with the appropriate police department if the theft occurred off campus, and (2) notify the Trible Library Media Center of the event. Within 30 days of the theft occurrence, the patron must provide a copy of the police report Media Center. Failure to comply with these guidelines shall result in patron's assuming full liability for loss of equipment.
Limit of Liability • Trible Library Media Center makes no express warranties regarding the functionality of the equipment, and provides the equipment "as is" without warranty, including implied, of any kind. • The Trible Library Media Center shall not be liable for any loss of data, damage to attached devices, or injury to patron or others resulting from the equipment, or for any losses, financial or otherwise, to patron or others.
Borrowing Group Collaboration Rooms or Editing Suites from the Media CenterThis agreement extends limited rights for use of the Group Collaboration Room and Editing Suites, belonging to the Trible Library Media Center to the CNU Community.This agreement outlines a privilege extended to a patron by Trible Library Media Center, which reserves the rights for revocation at its sole discretion.
Patron Eligibility • Patron must be a member of the CNU Community with valid CNU ID or posses a valid Community Patron card. • Group Collaboration Rooms and Editing Suites can not be reserved. • Group Collaboration rooms are only checked out to parties of two or more.
Borrowing Procedure • A representative of the Group or an individual patron comes to the Trible Library Media Center Service Desk with their CNU student ID card. • Media Center Service Desk staff will then check out the requested room or suite and issue the due date to the patron. • Non-compliance is considered a breach of contract and may result in penalties.

Please contact the staff member at the Media Center Service Desk. • Any data stored on equipment will be deleted if the equipment (computer) is left idle for longer than 15 minutes. • Patron is assumed to possess the knowledge required for safe and correct operation of the equipment provided in the Group Collaboration Rooms or Editing Suites. • Patron shall 'make a good faith effort to protect the equipment from damage, vandalism, and theft. • Patron shall be held liable for all damage resulting from uses not outlined in this agreement, not specified in the initial statement of purpose, or not designated in the operating manual, even if damage is unintentional or if use would otherwise be deemed appropriate.
